After tonight’s class, my understanding for research design became a bit clear. Tonight’s lecture allowed me to identify the different research designs and how important they are when doing studies along with the importance behind choosing the correct design. By choosing the correct design it will help me support the research question by collecting the information, measuring and also analyzing it for further context. I am planning on doing a qualitative research design because I am trying to find more information about job readiness programs; if they are increasing the level of independence of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. I plan to give them a Quality of Life questionnaire that asks open-ended questions because the quality of life varies and means something different to each person. With the Qualitative approach it focuses more on the subject matter and it gives the person a voice. It would allow me to gain an understanding from the person-firsts perspective.
